In How to Conceive Naturally we look at pregnancy as a five-trimester process including preconception as the first tri, and post-partum as the fifth. This book lays out an avant-garde action plan for the healthiest pregnancy and most balanced mom.
We start with a three month pre-conception cleanse and building process, preparing both mom and dad to cleanse, build, and balance their bodies while calibrating their mind and spirit to the powerful vibration of creating new life.
This phase addresses the idea of epigenetics which means how both mom and dad take care of themselves (building super sperm and super eggs) 90 days prior to conception will contribute different and better genetics not only to their children, but also to their children’s children.
For each of the traditional trimesters, we layout which part of baby is forming and growing, empowering mom to eat the highest quality, targeted nutrients to assist that process to reach its full potential. This concept is referred to as fetal programming.
Our rock star arsenal of homeopathic, dietary, and holistic tools are included to keep mom happy and balanced so she can enjoy this magical process versus feeling overwhelmed, tired, and depleted.
How to Conceive Naturally wraps up with a post-partum action plan to balance hormones in half the time so parents can enjoy their new baby and shifting lifestyle. This addresses all aspects of nutrition but also lifestyle, stress, and coaching for how to make this period fulfilling.
The food supply has changed more in the last fifty years than it has in the previous 10,000, making it absolutely crucial to cleanse and build one’s body prior to conception in order to ensure the healthiest child.
We playfully, but powerfully assist a graceful process of eliminating genetically modified foods (GMOs), refined flour and sugar, caffeine, alcohol, soy, and gluten. We are REAL foodists and guide moms to eat the real, clean, and nutrient-dense foods our ancestors ate.
Preconception emphasizes balancing hormones, mitigating stress, strengthening the liver and the immune system, cleansing the blood, and creating a rock solid digestive tract for maximum nutrient absorption.
We leave willpower, denial, and deprivation to the wayside and instead opt for the idea of upgrading your food to endless healthier options that taste just as good. This gives credence to our overcrowding theory: add the good stuff in and the cravings for the bad stuff fall away, hence providing emotional freedom and joy around food and one’s relationship with it.
No matter what stage of pregnancy a woman is in, this book will be her one-stop shop, and her trusted handbook for a 21st Century modern pregnancy. We quell the anxieties of how to eat, which natural remedies are safe, and what to do during pregnancy to love your baby and yourself while empowering a brand new mindset of true health and deep nourishment.
How to Conceive Naturally touches on each and every week of pregnancy with a combined 16 years of experience and knowledge in our private practices. It is replete with delicious recipes, top quality nutrients, riveting explanations of what is happening in the body, and oh-so-motivating action plans. While diving deep into the concept of functional medicine and the clinical aspects of nutrition, we break it all down in palatable chunks, while also paying homage to the mind-body connection, inviting a brand new relationship with conception, pregnancy and the power of the human body for both mom and dad. Infused with humor and easy-to-follow remedies for the most embarrassing pregnancy body follies, “How to Conceive Naturally” is a go-to, tried and tested approach to helping women create “super babies” in today’s ever-changing world.
Our mission is to help as many people as possible to heal, and to thrive on all levels of being.

Hello. I am enjoying your audio book. I am about to purchase the supplements with the brands you recommend and I’m not sure if I should just purchase the prenatal for the folate, vitamin D and calcium or if I should purchase these supplements individually? And if so, should I take them And the prenatal or is it a one or the other kind of thing. Thank you

Hi, i am listening audiobook and working on it is easy because you have given step by step approach.please guide me preconception supplement for male any other than mitocore can you suggest.and also garden of life vs newchapter for female.
One of my friend lost a tube due to an ectopic pregnancy. She tried IVF yet the cycle failed. She conceived the old fashioned way. My cousin with unexplained infertility did IVF and conceived on her second attempt. She got pregnant naturally the following year. It can happen. I’ve known some women online who conceived the old fashioned way when they thought IVF was their only option. I hope this happens for you!
Enjoying the book via audible but I’m afraid I’m missing out because I keep hearing of a PDF that outlines some of the mentioned resources but I’m not sure where to find it and wondering if I have I missed out by buying the digital version not a hard copy? Any chance of receiving it?
Hi Erin! Hi Nancy,
Thank you for purchasing the audio version of Christa and Willow’s book. We hope you’ve been enjoying it thus far.
The PDF is found in different places depending on how the book has been purchased.
• Audible: instructions can be found here http://audible.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5046/~/how-can-i-locate-and-download-the-accompanying-.pdf-file-with-my-audible.
• iTunes: The file will actually download to your music library. This can be confusing, because audiobooks have their own section.
• Audiobooks.com: You will have to reach out to their customer service at [email protected]. They’ll then email the PDF to you.
• If listening on CD, then the PDF can be found on the final disc. The disc will generate an icon on the desktop on a Mac. If you open it, you can then access the file. It can be found on My Computer on a PC.
Hope this help, but if not, please reach out to our publisher contact, Mitch Kelly, at [email protected] and he can assist further.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
I am having the same issue. We’re you able to get your hands on those PDFs?

Hello, I just purchased the book – it’s great so far! I was about to buy one of the supplements recommended in the Recipe for a Super Baby chapter – the Garden of Life Prenatal supplement, but I noticed that it’s a prenatal supplement, and not pre-conception. Is there anything you’d recommend for pre-conception? I’m 37, been trying to conceive for almost 2 years and just had a failed IVF. I’ve been taking Pregnacare Conception, which has tons of fillers and binders.
Hi Sonal! We are glad you are enjoying the book and it sounds like you are keeping positive amongst your long journey. Preconception and prenatal suggestions are the same as your body needs to build up these stores for several months prior to conception to replenish your hormones and also to pull from upon conception. Garden of Life will suffice and we also really love New Chapter’s Perfect Prenatal. We highly suggest working one-on-one with Christa’s dear and trusted colleague, functional acupuncturist Marc Sklar. She and Marc successfully teamed up on many similar cases to yours and we feel good about him helping you get results. Here is where to find him http://bit.ly/1Y7dn03. Good luck to you!
Hello! I’m wondering if this book would be a good resource for me despite the fact that I soon must have my fallopian tubes removed and my only option of conceiving would be through IVF. I’m all about natural living and healing – so it’s difficult for me to have to rely on avenues that include drugs like anesthesia, antibiotics, and hormones – however, it is my only choice and I’m looking for how I can create an optimal experience for myself and create a healthy situation for my potential future child. Any advice or resources for this situation are greatly appreciated!! Thank you. 🙂
Hi Molly, Your optimistic attitude is commendable. Yes, the information in Christa’s book would be a great resource for you because she shares ways to have a healthy pregnancy from preconception to postpartum. You may also want to check out her interviews with Marc Sklar, a fertility specialist http://thewholejourney.com/?s=marc+sklar. Many Blessings!
Hi Molly,
I used the advice in this book while I was trying naturally and then also during my time spent doing medicated cycles of IUI and 1 cycle of IVF. I was the same as you – I prefer natural living but I just did my first cycle of IVF and found out I am pregnant. There is a ton of information in the book about what to eat and supplements to take during each trimester as well. I would highly recommend this book for those doing fertility treatments as it can only help your chances to conceive! Good luck to you!
Hello! I just discovered you and The Whole Journey. So wonderful how you are helping people and women get healthier. I just watched your interview on How to Conceive. I really would love to talk with you! I am 39, married for 6 years, and have begun this year to undergo medical treatments. So far, I am taking GNRH hormone injections for a 10 day OI (ovulation induction cycle), and a trigger shot. This is my second round, first round we did not conceive. I am waiting till Dec. 1 to see if we are pregnant this time. This time we also tried IUI. My husband is also very much into health and getting ready to come out with his first book in December titled: Diet Diagnosis. The issue in getting pregnant was lack of menstrual cycle for over 20 yrs. I don’t even remember ever having one. MRI showed normal brain and hypothalamus. My parents had Thyroid Issues but I’ve been taking a Metabolic Complex with Endocrine tissues (glandulars) that have seemed to “normalize” and balance my thyroid levels. Drs. diagnosis was hypothyroidism. I so much desire to conceive. Is there any way I could talk or consult with you? I love what you stand for. Thank you for all you do and I look forward to getting your book and definitely reading it! God Bless you! Hope to talk soon! 🙂
Randy really rocked this interview – totally nailed it. Great info and smoothly moves along. Kudos & Thankyou both
Christa can someone start following in 3 trimester ? Or if i have not done pre detox i can not use this program ?
This was so informative! I bought the book yesterday. I am 32, and we have been trying for 7 months. I can’t wait to get started on your protocol. As I wait for my book to arrive, are there any protein powders that you recommend for people trying to conceive?
With 49 years and 5 healthy kids(PHEW!) I’m sure we’re finished conceiving! However Christa I’m wondering if the protocols in your book would be beneficial to try and balance hormones? Are balanced hormones, at my age, a goal I can hope to achieve?
Such true and important information! I agree that people don’t think about optimizing fertility until they encounter a problem (as is similar with general health). Thanks for spreading the info! In my research involving epigenetics/nutrigenomics and reproduction, I have found many more genes that affect fertility, as well as placental and maternal health outcomes. Even just genes relating to the folate pathway – MTHFR is only one small player in the genes that affect methylation (and fertility). SNP’s in other genes within the folate pathway can affect how the body metabolizes folic acid/folate, even if someone doesn’t have an MTHFR polymorphism (for instance, the folate receptor gene – FOLR). Fertility (and whole body health) is affected by the whole symphony of genes. Some genes are responsible for making enzymes, some for transporting, some for degrading. We can have SNPs in numerous genes that affect the functioning (for instance, some upregulate estrogen metabolism while others downregulate it). However, the good news is that even though we have certain SNPs doesn’t mean that we are doomed to have them express. That’s where optimal diet and detox ability (as Christa and other health practitioners like myself teach) play an enormous part.
Yes you are correct, Jaclyn. This is great information. Are you an MD or specialist on fertility or genetic disorders? It sounds like it could be interesting to have you on the Randy and Christa Show as a guest!
I have been doing research on epigenetics and the methylation pathway for a few years for a relatively well known practitioner that specializes in methylgenetics. I’ve taken what I’ve learned (and continue to learn) and combined it with my experience as a holistic health practitioner, doula, and apprentice to a traditional homebirth midwife to apply it successfully to clients that are trying to achieve/sustain a pregnancy, healthy birth, and decrease the incidence of dis-ease in unborn children. I take into account the SNPs (and diet/lifestyle factors) that could be contributing to things like inflammation, oxidative stress, fatty acid metabolism, hormonal balance, neurotransmitter production and degradation, biochemical and nutritional cofactor deficiencies, and even genes correlated with gut health or lack thereof (gluten sensitivity, gut flora, etc). I feel strongly that these are the essential missing factors that must be addressed for our bodies to heal themselves and to procreate, which is exactly what they were designed to do. And heck yeah I would be absolutely thrilled to discuss this more with you, as well as for the possibility of sharing what I’ve learned on your show!
Please email our team at [email protected]. I would love to talk to you Jaclyn!
